"DO NOT THINK I'M DISSIN' ANYONE!!!" Rival was relaxing at home watching MTV Jams on tv. When Lil Wayne's "Steady Mobbin" came on the screen... "Now you can aim your hatred at me if you don't like what I am about to say but... I have never in my life ever disrespected Lil Wayne, and I still respect him, I USED to look at Weezy like "That's where I wanna be in two years" but now having witnessed what I witnessed tonight, I just think he's a good musician, again not a role I would like to become" Rival is mainly directing his quotes to Lil Wayne in hopes to get some answers...
In Lil Wayne's video for "Steady Mobbin" there is a scene of Wayne flicking his blunt/cigar into a Grammy award then there is a cut scene and its back to Wayne flicking his blunt/cigar into the Grammy once again. "I love music a lot, music is my life... Weezy is one of those people that made it... set his goals... and achieved for that he was awarded a Grammy... I personally see it as a message like "I don't need this to make good music" but why accept the award if you don't respect the award... There are sooooooo many artists out there that work hard to get to the point Wayne is at, some knowing they won't make it, but when I see that I see it as a form of disrespect to all the artist in Lil Wayne's genre, maybe it's just me but who was nominated might have felt more accomplished to have won the award, because they may have actually wanted it... Can you imagine this... Its like you race in a track meet, you take second and the kid who took first threw the trophy in the garbage on his way to the bus..."
Does Wayne mean disrespect in this message? Or does he try to show us "I have so many of these I use them as ashtrays now"? What does Lil Wayne want us to take from that portion of the video? "What we got here is a guy who made it, he did what so many strive to do, what so many people want more than anything in the world... It doesn't matter to me if you have 2 Grammy Awards or if you have 100, you should still honor all of them being that they are awarded to you for you're contribution to the Music world... I am not hating, I am giving my opinion, I am not in a gang so its not like a hatred I have for his grind, I am strictly a Hip Hop artist that (without an explanation) thinks that's a little disrespectful and some should feel the same"
